WCK Muaythai’s 2019 Opener “Ultimate Conquest”

With this being his first WCK Muaythai show of 2019, it appears Dennis Warner, the promoter, wanted to start the year off with a bang which means securing a sterling line-up. That way he could guarantee another packed house at the Four Points By Sheraton Hotel in San Diego for a show aptly named “Ultimate Conquest.” After taking a look at the talent on his fight card, fighters who are known for always giving their best, how could it not be a great show?

In the opening Bout #1, they’re featuring a revenge match between Jessica Cook (0-1) and Patricia Stabile (1-0) from Fontana, Calif. Back on November 3, 2018, Stabile eeked out a close victory.

In Bout #2, you have Alex Heredia (USA, 0-0, PKB: 5-1, ABX: 2-1, 5’9″ tall, 22 years-old,from the Steel MMA Gym in Tierrasanta taking on Barack Sekander from The Arena in Point Loma (1-0, S: 3, 5’9″ tall, 26 years-old). Recalling Sekander’s debut in November of last year, that one featured his exceptional boxing prowess, Herrada will have to be on his guard for one of Sekander’s big overhand rights which could end up having Herrada lying on his back. On Sunday, Sekander turns 27. A win here would be an early Birthday present.

Bout #3 features 19-year-old, 5’6″ tall Juan-Manuel Medina (USA, 3-0, PKB: 4, 5’6″ tall, 19-years-old) from Team Parusa which trains in San Diego’s Mission Valley at the UFC Gym. He’s matched up with RogelioRoy” Gonzales from Foothill Ranch, California, 3-4, AMMA: 2-1, 5’8″ tall, 24-years-old.

In Bout #4, you have fighter/coach James Gregory from the Art of Eight Training Center in Kearny Mesa (6-16-2, 5’7″ tall, 39-years-old). The oh-so popular Gregory will be taking on Abel Lara from Carson, Calif. (3-1, 5’10” tall, 31-years-old), from NHC Mixed Martial Arts of Los Alamitos.

Bout #5 features Alyshia Madison (Chula Vista, Calif., USA, P: 1-2, AM: 10-4/2, 5’7″ tall, 29-years-old)battling Amanda De Rosa (Victorville, Calif., 0-2, A: 9-6-1, 5’7″ tall, 28-years-old). Their skill level is a treat to watch.

Bout #6, another match-up of talented fighters has Jason Durrant (USA, 2-2-1, ABX: 2-0, 5’7″, 28-years-old) taking on Jeremy Shepard (Spring Valley, Calif. 6-6, PKB: 2-1, 5’10” tall, 24-years-old). With both known for hitting and kicking extremely hard, the paramedic team should be on alert.

In another match of heavy hitters, Bout #7, it will be Roman Lysenko (San Diego, California, 8-2, S: 3, 6′, 23-years-old) taking on a serious challenge from the veteran Oscar Moller (Los Angeles, Calif., record 10-3, 5’9″, 36-year-old).

Bout #8, an IAMTF WOMENS FULL RULES MUAYTHAI fight features Samantha Stark (San Diego, California, 1-2, S: 2, 5’5″ tall, 29-year-old)in a rematch with Melissa Sifuentes from the SWAMA Gym in Imperial Beach. In November of 2018, the 29-year-old Stark (2-1) at the time and the 32-year-old Melissa Sifuentes from San Diego (7-2, 5’5″ tall, 33-years-old)went full bore only to have both of their arms raised by referee Jim Vanover for a Draw. It’s highly unlikely that you’ll see a repeat of that night. Of special note, at 12 midnight Ms. Stark will turn 30.

In Bout #9, a four round Pro Bout, they have Diego Paez (Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif., P: 2-1-1, A: 10-0, 5’7″, 25-years-old) taking on Bruno Borges (Chula Vista, Calif., Professional: 0-0, Amateur 13-2, ABX: 2-0, 5’6″ tall, 28-years-old)from the Alliance MMA Gym, Chula Vista who is making his long awaited Pro debut. In the Amateur ranks of both Muaythai and USA Amateur Boxing, it had often been said that Borges had never tasted defeat. As we learned later, Borges was defeated twice. It must have been a miss-print. Anyway, taking on someone of Paez’s calibre in your first Pro match is quite an undertaking.

In Bout #10, we get to see the return of Marvin Madariaga (San Diego, Calif., 5-2, PMMA: 2-2, AMMA: 4-0, 30-years-old)who now trains at The Boxing Club after training for years at Black House Team Nogueira, being a member of the Blue Oceans team and then Steel MMA. At one point he was unbeatable until he was forced to focus more on school and work, his career path. The former local champion will now take on the 34-year-old, 5’4” tall Jacob Hebeisen (8-4) who made the trip all the way from the Bangkok Boxing/Iron Clutch Fitness Gym in Atlanta, Georgia.

Bout #11 has Jordon Huber of Team Parausa (l) facing Alan Smith of Steel MMA.

In Bout #11, we get to see the young phenom Jordan Huber (San Diego, Calif., 6-2, 5’7″ tall, 19 year-old)from the Parusa Team Mission Valley take on Alan Smith (La Mesa, Calif., 7-1, S: 18, PKB: 8-1, 5’10” tall, 27-year-old)from Steel MMA. It’s rare when you see either on the losing end of a fight.

Bout #12 should be a classic. It features Selina Flores (17-4, 5’7″ tall, 20-years-old) from Vista, Calif., who trains at multiple gyms but at present calls the Boxing World of Torrence, Calif. her home. Her opponent is Carleigh Karen (San Diego, Calif., 7-0, PKB: 1-2, 5’9″ tall, who only two days ago celebrated her 20th birthday) in an IAMTF WOMENS FULL RULES MUAYTHAI TITLE fight.

Bout #13, an IKF AMATEUR Full Rules MUAYTHAI fight/ 138 lbs. 5 round PROMOTIONAL TITLE fight originally had Christopher Kirk (Ramona, Calif., 0-2, AMMA: 10-6, 5’8″ tall, 28-years-old) scheduled to face Marvin Pepito of La Mesa, Calif., 1-3 (1-1 C) S: 4, AMMA: 0-2, 5’7″ tall, 31-years-old) but it was cancelled.

Bout #13 has Chris Rolen of San Diego, from City Boxing Downtown, (Record 0-0, 6’2” tall, 31-years-old) taking on Ryden Kerr (of La Mesa, Calif., 0-0, S: 2, 5’11” tall, 22-years-old)in an IAMTF MODIFIED MUAYTHAI Match. Since Rolen is now under the tuteledge of former Kickboxing/Boxing sensation Denis Grachev, insiders are anxious to see if Rolen has benefitted from his instruction and can be a chip off the old block.

And, in the closer, Bout #14, they bring back the ladies Geri Edu (San Diego, Calif., 1-2, PKB 1-0, 5’5″, 28-years-old)to take on Aly Bright (San Diego, Calif., 0-0, 5’5″, 29-years-old)in an IAMTF WOMENS FULL RULES MUAYTHAI match.
