Donald Trump, the joke that’s gone too far

Donald Trump for President? Hitler's not available? Okay, I must admit I am prejudice against this individual. He would not be on my list of the three people I would like to share a meal with.

Donald Trump for President? What, Kermit the Frog wasn’t available?

If the Republican party were to nominate Donald Trump as their candidate for President of the United States at their upcoming convention, it would certainly be mind-boggling. My fellow Americans, please, think hard and fast about what you are about to do. With “the Donald” doing so well and in the lead in the majority of the Republican primaries, we’ve had to revisit this article from a year ago to raise even more red flags. Below are just a few of the disturbing facts we have unearthed and you’re going to have to believe me – Donald Trump keeps adding to this list on a daily basis.

1) We all know how Washington D. C. works. Big money hires full-time lobbyists to wine and dine members of Congress and whatever they want, they eventually get. Now you want to put one of the foxes in the hen house? Over the years, Donald Trump has been involved in a great many shady deals where he’s admitted to being one of the guys who handed out the bribes. “You do things my way, and I’ll keep stuffing your pocket with dough. Being an exploiter and feeling entitled, he’s had a bad habit of using coarse language, defaming people, mostly women, people of a different race and countless times he has stretched the truth in order to make his point.

2) Trump claims to be a business tycoon who is worth billions (that’s an estimate that comes from his own calculations) but as my grandfather used to say, “You don’t get filthy rich unless you’ve screwed someone over.” After looking at his track record, you got to figure Trump has spent the majority of his life screwing people over. Deep down in your gut, do you actually believe Trump would do what’s best for the American people? Or would he do what’s best for Donald Trump? In the past, when a President was elected they felt obligated to put their holdings in a blind trust. I guarantee you, that will not happen with the Donald. And after his four or maybe eight-year term in office, he will be one of the wealthiest people in the world – on a par with Vladimir Putin, the Russian dictator/crook.

3) The government of the United States is now trillions of dollars in debt and Donald Trump’s concept of good business practices would certainly be frowned upon by the rest of the world. In other words, the business of running a government is entirely different from running a business in the private sector. Several of Trump’s businesses, limited partnerships, went belly-up. For example, not one, not two but three of Trump’s casinos went bankrupt.

4) At this point in his life, Donald Trump has had three wives, which is more than any other candidate. Would you agree that it’s possible that the first two wives found something lacking in his character?

5) Agree or disagree, doesn’t the Donald remind you of that schemer in high school who would pay some other kid to do his homework, or pay someone to take a test for him and even pay someone to pass his Bar Exam? For a guy who claims to be so smart, one can not help but ponder how Mr. Trump would do on that TV show, Are you smarter than a Fifth Grader hosted by Jeff Foxworthy. If this narcissist were to appear, I’m sure he would have some ready made excuses for not being able to answer the questions.

6) As a campaigner, Donald Trump has been telling folks what he thinks they want to hear. “Yeah, I’ll build a wall, the biggest and best and who’s going to pay for it? Mexico!” While speaking about his tax plan during a news conference in New York on Monday, September 28, 2015, the Republican front-runner called for an overhaul of the tax code that would eliminate income taxes for millions of Americans while lowering them for the highest-income earners and businesses. Ever since Reaganomics we’ve had trouble keeping up with our National Debt. Perhaps the Donald is a magician and plans to pull, not rabbits but money out of his hat.

7) Do we really want someone in the White House who is so nonchalant, so heedless, that he wouldn’t care who he slams, what people think or what he says about women? His nasty remarks to Carly Fiorina, “look at that face” and to Arianna Huffington, “she is unattractive inside and out,” and even harsher remarks to Megyn Kelly who responded, “Since I wouldn’t take this from a boyfriend, my husband, why would I take the blatant disrespect of a female from anyone like him?” And who’s memory is so short that they don’t recall his on air “blood” comment?

8) As the leader of our country and statesman to the world, do we really want a President who is crass and speaks so disrespectfully to other world leaders? Can you imagine if Trump and Russia’s President Vladimir Putin were in the same room? Some say Putin may just be the biggest crook ever. According to Forbes Magazine, his net worth is thought to be around $70 billion dollars, which makes him the second-richest man in the world since Bill Gates’ net worth has been estimated at $79.3 billion. Instead of money and property, Trump boasts that one of his assets is his name which he claims is worth three billion dollars.

9) And what about the almost weekly “off the wall” controversial statement that has people scratching their head? “The concept of global warming was created by and for the Chinese in order to make U. S. manufacturing non-competitive.” If the Donald had attended class at the University of Pennsylvania, it’s certain he would have a better handle on Global Warning.

10) The way he gruffly talks about the different races and religions, Trump reminds many of Adolf Hitler and we all know how he was able to radicalize thought and turn large groups against one another.

Here is perhaps the best Trump bashing I have heard thus far. It comes from the comedian John Oliver – who like me chose his words very carefully to avoid a visit from Trump’s lawyers.

So, who can we trust? Who can we believe? With such a large population, why is it that we are always so limited in our choices?

My longtime friend, Bill Weimann, who I grew up with in the Philadelphia area sent me this message:

Quote of the day from Hilary Clinton. No … of the week! Wait! Make that of the month. Actually, it qualifies as her quote of the year. No! DECADE. Wait a minute. It’s perhaps her greatest quote EVER! “My accomplishments as Secretary of State? Well, I’m glad you asked! My proudest accomplishment in which I take the most pride, mostly because of the opposition it faced early on, you know… the remnants of prior situations and mind-sets that were too narrowly focused in a manner whereby they may have overlooked the bigger picture, and we didn’t do that, and I’m proud of that. Very proud. I would say that’s A major accomplishment.” – Hillary Clinton 11 March 2014Bill Weimann: “Could someone please tell me what she just said?”

Why would anyone want Hilary Clinton or for that matter, the Clintons back in the White House? During Super Tuesday’s primaries, the former President entered a polling station with Boston Mayor Marty Walsh while campaigning for Hilary in Massachusetts, a state that could have gone either way for Hillary or Bernie Sanders. Everyone in politics knows it is illegal to campaign within 150 feet of a polling station, and yet there was our Bill breaking the rules.

Clinton defended himself, arguing he did not campaign or approach any voter. Then one voter asked for a photo with Mr. Clinton and he smugly responded, “as long as we’re not violating any election laws.”

Ever since and for that matter even before the Clintons were in the White House there have been examples of their unabashed entitlement and disrespect for the law. Bill Clinton was caught lying under oath and was nearly impeached for it. He also has a long history of sexual harassment and assault, stemming from Jennifer Flowers, who in 1992 admitted she had a 12-year affair with Bill. Mr. Clinton told Steve Kroft during a 60 Minutes interview in 1992 that he had caused pain in his marriage, but that didn’t stop him from involving himself in similar scandals with Juanita Broderick, Kathleen Willey, the gorgeous Linda Tripp, Paula Jones and Monica Lewinsky. Hilary Clinton’s political record is filled with unapologetic contradictions and doing whatever she sees fit. Nearly everything she has said during the 2016 presidential primaries can be traced back to a contradictory past statement, and when confronted she reverts to these planned, dismissive talking points. Hilary repeatedly obstructed the investigation into her email server as Secretary of State, dodged her involvement in the Benghazi scandal and has refused to release her speech transcripts to the large financial firms while claiming to be a champion of Wall Street reform. She has attacked Bernie Sanders for discrepancies on his record for gun control and yet a NRA lobbyist will soon be co-hosting a fundraiser for her in March. Her role as Secretary of State during the Obama administration is touted as a qualification for the presidency, when in reality her foreign policy was that of an interventionist which led to the rise of ISIS in the Middle East.

Once a proponent for rallying the Democrats to make universal healthcare a reality, she now criticizes Bernie Sanders’ single payer healthcare plan while racking up more donations from large pharmaceutical companies than any other candidate. Politicians are generally thought to be two-faced, but Bill and Hillary have taken it to a new level.
