WBC CA State Title on the line, as Garcia faces Ramirez

On Friday evening, July 25, 2014, we’re back at the Crowne Plaza Hotel for another exciting night of boxing. The latest Bobby D Presents show features the 32 year-old 5’6” Aaron “Gavilan” Garcia of Vista, CA (14-3-2, 4 KOs) matched up with 24 year-old, 5’9” Daniel “Huracan” Ramirez (10-1-0, 4 KOs) who is originally from Tijuana but now training at the Ponce De Leon Gym in Los Angeles. The two gentleman will be in the evening’s Main Event and battling it out for CA State Super Featherweight Title.
Garcia’s two losses came to Abraham Lopez (17-0, 12 KOs) and a split decision loss to Bernabe Concepcion (29-5-1) when they fought for the vacant WBC Continental Americas featherweight title back on October 27, 2011.
After fighting six times last year, Ramirez got off to a slow start in 2014 and lost an unanimous decision to the plucky 5’6”, 25 year-old Guy Robb of Sacramento, CA on April 5, 2014.
Now Ramirez has this golden opportunity to right the ship by defeating Garcia to win the vacant title.
Also on the fight card they have 29 year-old Viktor Chernous of Vinitza, Ukraine (15-1-0, 5 KOs) who has been very versatile and moved about in the different weight classes from 139 pounds to 152 pounds. With all the problems in his country, there’s no doubt he’s under a lot of stress.
Chernous’ minor titles: he was the Australian welterweight champ, New South Wales State Light Middleweight Champ and the New So Wales Welterweight State Champion.
His most notable victories came over welterweight Costa Katsounis (8-1-0, 5 KOs) and middleweight James J. “The Goondiwindi Gun” Giltrow (12-3, 7 KOs) of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia.
Chernous’ opponent on Friday night is 20 year-old Ivan “El Oso” Zavala (6-6-1, 2 KOs) of Tijuana. Zavala might be easy pickings when you consider he’s only won twice in his last eight fights.

Lightweight, 24 year-old, 5’10” Riccy “The Hammer” Hood of San Diego, CA (1-0-0) is back after winning in his debut against Anecito Gesta. He’ll be going up against 31 year old, 5’9” Norberto Pantaleon from Oceanside, CA by way of Morelos, Morelos, Mexico. Pantaleon’s record now stands at 0-2-2.

Also on the fight card, you have 24 year old featherweight Smokin’ Joe Perez (4-1-1, 3 KOs) who is set to go against 29 year-old Gabriel Braxton (1-3-0) from Georgia who has always fought as a Super Bantamweight.

Since Perez’ fighting weight has always been between 118 and 122, he might have some difficulty with the heavier punching Braxton who will likely weigh a lot more come fight night.
