Both have a reputation for being explosive nonstop boxers who never fail to entertain.

Chris "the San Diego Kid" Martin of Chula Vista, Ca.

In 2010, Christopher Martin of Chula Vista, CA. reeled off five impressive wins and none more impressive than his whooping of Chris Avalos on national TV.

He followed that performance with a TKO of Jose Luis Araiza (29-2-0) and an unanimous decision victory over Yogli Herrera (22-13-0). The WBC and IBF organizations took notice and moved Martin up into their Top 10 rankings.

Charles Huerta, the pride of Paramount, CA, is hoping to bounce back after his split decision loss to Raul Hirales Jr. (13-0-1) on January 28 at the Four Points by Sheraton Hotel in San Diego. The 24-year-old Huerta had won five straight before the loss. Huerta, who is now into his fourth year as a professional, once fought and beat Martin when the two were amateurs.

At today’s weigh-in both Huerta and Martin weighed an identical 122 pounds.  The combined win and loss record of their opponents? Huerta’s opponents were 167-132-30. Martin’s opponents were 255-174-23.

In the co-main event, junior lightweight prospect 21-year-old Ronny Rios (13-0-0, 6 KOs) out of Santa Ana is hoping to keep his unbeaten record intact when he goes up against Georgi Kevlishvili (12-1-0, 3 KOs) out of Moscow, Russia in an eight round contest.
