Saturday, August 28th, is fight night in Tijuana

After getting the easy win over Antonio Valenzuela back on July 24, 2010, Julio Cesar Felix not only introduced himself but got to kiss the two babes from Tecate beer.

Baja Boxing returns Saturday night to Tijuana’s Municipal Auditorium. The fight card is billed as “KO against Child Cancer” with proceeds going towards the Castro Limon Foundation which fights the deadly disease and gives help to the children now suffering from cancer.

In the main event, undefeated light welterweight Juan Pablo “CheChe” Lopez (17-0-0, 16 KO’s) from Tijuana will face Luis Rey (8-5-1, 5 KO’s) of San Luis Rio Colorado, Mexico, in a scheduled ten rounder.

Lopez, who fights out of the CREA Gym run by Don Romulo Quirarte, is coming off a first round knock out win over Carlos Luzania (2-2-0) on July 24th in Tijuana, while Rey, who participated in the local “Guante Azteca (Aztec Glove)” tournament is coming off a first round knockout loss to Misael Castillo (16-0-0, 15 KO’s).

On the undercard, Tijuana super flyweight Arturo “Fuerte” Badillo (17-1, 15 KO’s) is making his return to the ring after suffering his first professional loss back on April 10, 2010, a ninth round TKO loss, to Ronald Barrera (27-7-2, 17 KO’s). In Saturday’s contest, he’ll take on Ernesto “Chatito” Rivera (22-26-1, 8 KO’s) from Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua, for eight rounds. The very popular Jr. flyweight Julio Cesar “Gatito” Felix (13-3-0, 5 KO’s), also of Tijuana, will take on Agua Prieta’s Ricardo “Rocky” Armenta (11-7-1, 4 KO’s) in a six rounder.

Also making an appearance in this charity event is the popular Tijuana super welterweight Jovan “Vaquero” Muñoz (10-1-0, 4 KO’s) who will face Christian “Yaqui Chavez (20-15-0, 10 KO’s) of Agua Prieta. Rounding out the card, the two-time gold medalist in the Mexican National Olympiad, Jorge De Alba (4-0-0, 4 KO’s) of Tijuana will try to keep his record perfect when he faces Jorge Luis Babuca (1-3-2) of Nacozari, Sonora, Mexico, in a four round bantamweight fight.
