Results from Friday’s Bobby D Presents Boxing Show at Fantasy Springs
To quote Manny Hernando of the Maurice “Mighty Mo” Hooker support group regarding his stay at the Fantasy Springs Resort & Casino: “No biggie! Today, desert temperatures only reached 108 degrees.” In the shade?

On Friday, the Fantasy Springs Resort & Casino in Indio hosted the latest Bobby D Presents show which featured another big win from super flyweight Víctor “El Pelon” Ruiz of Tijuana who improved his record to (16-3-0, 11 KOs) after registering a 10 round unanimous decision victory over Timur Shailezov (17-8-1, 4 KOs) of Los Angeles, CA by way of Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan.

On the undercard
In a female super flyweight contest for the vacant NABF Female Super Flyweight Title, it was 27 year-old Chantel “Gorgeous Babe”Cordova (13-5-1, 3 KOs) from Pueblo, Colorado, coming away with the split decision victory over 37 year-old Patricia “Patty Boom Boom”Alcivar from Queens, New York, whose record now drops to (7-3-0, 3 KOs).
Two judges scored the bout 97-93 for Cordova, while the third judge had it 96-94 for Alcivar. According to those sitting at ringside, Cordova threw and landed the sharper punches, while Alcivar’s punches were more like slaps, and she was continually holding and pushing in an effort to slow down Cordova’s attack.

Maurice “Mighty Mo” Hooker (14-0-2, 11 KOs) from Dallas, Texas but trained locally by San Diego’s Vince Parra registered his sixth, first round stoppage. Hooker’s victim this time was Lauro Alcantar (8-4-0, 1 KO) from Agua Prieta, Sonora, Mexico. Alcantar went to the mat three times before the referee finally called a halt to the match.
Turnaround is fair play
After winning his first six fights against less than stellar competition, who incidentally had a combined record of 8 wins and 68 losses, Alcantar has now fallen on hard times losing his last three fights, all three being first round TKO/KO losses to competition with a combined record of 37 wins, 1 loss and three draws.

In a featherweight match, it was 20 year-old, 6’1” Rafael “El Divino” Espinoza (4-0-0, 3 KOs) from Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico scoring a fifth round stoppage of 29 year-old Victor Serrano (4-6-0, 1 KO) from Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico. This is the same Serrano who lost by an unanimous decision to Prince “Tiger” Smalls on May 15, 2014 at the Del Mar Fairgrounds.

In the opener, it was super featherweight Roque “Rocky” Ramos (5-0-1, 1 KO) of Vista, CA gaining an unanimous decision victory over 28 year-old southpaw Jesus Sandoval (3-3-3) of Redwood City, CA. The scores, all favoring Ramos, read 40-36, and 39-37 twice.

In his pro-debut, light heavyweight Alberto Fundora (173 pounds) from Coachella, CA, secured a second round TKO victory over 37 year-old Albert Avina Jr. (0-3-0), a cruiserweight from Stockton, Ca, who outweighed Fundora by four pounds. The end came at the 1:04 mark of round #2.

The next Bobby D Presents Show returns to the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Mission Valley, San Diego, CA, Friday evening, July 25, 2014. In the Main Event, they have Aaron Garcia facing Daniel Ramirez, plus four additional bouts featuring Kenia Enriquez, Viktor Chernous, Riccy Hood and Smokin’ Joe Perez.
