  • WBO Light Heavyweight 12 round Title fight: between 6-foot-tall Sergey Kovalev (34-3-1, 29 KOs) (right) from Fort Lauderdale, Florida by way of Kopeysk, Russia, who has a 72 ½” reach and 5’8″ tall Saul Canelo Alvarez (51-1-2, 35 KOs) (left) of Carlsbad, Calif. by way of Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico, who has a 70 ½” reach in a 12 rounder, for Kovalev’s WBO light heavyweight title. Alvarez is going up two weight classes to face the taller (4 inches), harder-hitting 36-year-old Kovalev and then, later on, came an announcement of “No catchweight, and No Hydration Clause” which has to benefit Mr. Kovalev who will have not only the height and reach advantage but he’ll be the heavier and more powerful puncher against Canelo who is planning to outbox, outpoint plus outlast the older, slower veteran.
