Emmanuel Diaz to make his Pro-Debut Saturday in Rosarito
You talk about a memorable, ideal setting for your first professional fight, how about on the beach in Rosarito, Baja California, Mexico, this Saturday, August 10, 2013, starting at 3 p.m.
That’s where San Diego’s Emmanuel Diaz is set to showcase his boxing talents. He’s just one of the many local boxers that will be performing for the expected, packed house at this most popular Sports Bar, slash, landmark night club, Papas & Beer located on the beach in Rosarito. The show is being presented by Gonzalez Promotions of Tijuana in association with Quinones Promotions of San Diego.
The 22 year-old Diaz, who for years spanked everyone in the USA Amateur ranks to collect numerous titles plus a room full of plaques and trophies, is now setting his sights on the professional ranks. He’ll be facing fellow lightweight Mario Diaz, no relation.

In the Main Event: they’re featuring the 38 year-old, Tijuana favorite, Hector Velazquez (53 wins, 18 losses, three draws with 36 knockouts). Over the course of his career which spans 20 years, this will be his 75th fight. He has faced some of the biggest names in the sport, everyone from Manny Pacquiao to the now deceased Edwin Valero, from Jorges Linares to Rocky Juarez, from Mickey Bey to Vitali Tajbert and based on those 53 wins, it appears he’s given a good account of himself.
Also on this packed fight card they’ve added the hard hitting, Victor “Sina” Fonseca (5-1-1, 3 KOs) going up against Juan Zuñiga; Miguel Villalobos will face Manuel Morra; Rigoberto “Planchita” Casillas (8-11-1, 6 KOs) goes against a fighter TBA; Brandon Gushiken will face Manuel Lopez, plus 5 Olympic style amateur exhibition bouts.
