California State Mixed Martial Arts finals at the Sheraton
On December 3, Epic Fighting returns to the GFL Combat Sports Network live from the Four Points by Sheraton Hotel in San Diego, CA. for what promises to be Epic Fighting’s biggest and best show to date.
The 15-bout card is the culmination of much hard work as the hotly contested California State Mixed Martial Arts Finals are at hand. There’s no telling what will happen in this talent-laden pool of top amateurs. The best fighters from both Southern and Northern California will be competing to see who will be the stars of tomorrow.
Richard Parra
In one of the Co-main events, featherweight Richard Parra (6-4) will be facing Francisco Castro (5-3).
Parra trains at The Pit, world renown for being the home of the former UFC Champ
Chuck “The Iceman” Liddell. Parra utilizes the same style as Liddell as five of his six wins came by way of KO or TKO.

Castro on the other hand, a U. S. Marine stationed at MCAS Miramar, is riding a four-fight win streak in which he prefers to grind it out and get the decision by breaking the will of his opponent. It’s expected the clash of styles will make for an interesting fight.
In another high profile match, a battle of unbeaten middleweights, Mike Flach (5-0) meets Lamar Reed (4-0). Flach is a well-rounded fighter with victories coming via KO and submission. The Millennia MMA trained athlete will need everything in his arsenal to defeat Reed.
For the short and stocky Reed, fighting out of Oakdale MMA’s Last Stand Fight Team, he’ll be looking to utilize his wrestling advantage which he has successfully used to shut down all of his previous opponents. The two-time All-American wrestler in college and finalist at the Greco Nationals will most likely go for a takedown early. Flach will have to be able to fight from his back which is something he’s capable of doing. The fight should be a barnburner.
Every weight class will be on the line including, flyweight, bantamweight, featherweight, lightweight, welterweight, middleweight, light heavyweight, cruiserweight and heavyweight. That’s nine divisions, nine titles up for grabs in this the deepest amateur tournament in California history.
