In Armenta’s first two bouts he faced his stiffest competition, Danny Pantoja of Fairfield, CA and then Ricky Gutierrez from Vista, CA.

Once again, with the help of David and Max Gutierrez in his corner, Armenta managed to eek out the victory over Gutierrez and then get the draw versus Pantoja to remain undefeated.

In his next five matches the competition seemed to wane as Armenta had no trouble with Federico Martinez (0-3), Alejandro Cruz (3-13-2), a fellow he faced twice, Ronald Hurley (5-5-2), and Rene Torres (0-5).

In other words those first two fights set the table for what many feel will be an exciting career.

ARMENTA’S STRENGTHS: Armenta, who is now ranked #39 in the U.S., has an aggressive style, good skills, speed, and movement but some people say he lacks the punching power to put people on their backs.
