Boxers on ESPN boxing card hold open workouts in San Diego

Updates on ESPN Friday Night Fights’ boxing card at the Pala Casino:
On Wednesday, March 5, 2014 at 2 p.m., your presence is requested at the Pacific Training Center at 5755 La Jolla Boulevard in La Jolla. The people of All In Entertainment, ESPN Promotions and the gym’s owner, Eddie Roa have extended this invite so you can get to meet two of the boxers who will be performing Friday night, March 7, 2014, on their ESPN boxing card at the Pala Casino Resort and Spa in Pala, CA. The two gentlemen with the help of their trainers, will be showcasing their boxing skills by conducting a workout that is open to both the public and the media.
Notables expected to attend:
(left) Dusty Harrison from Washington, D. C. will be present on Wednesday. His opponent on Friday, 33 year-old, southpaw Michael Balasi will not.
Undefeated welterweight, 19 year-old, orthodox fighter Dusty Hernandez-Harrison (20-0, 11 KOs) from Washington, D. C. is set to face 33 year-old, southpaw Michael Balasi from Honolulu, Hawaii (10-3-0 with 7 KOs). Balasi has also competed in the Toughman Xtreme MMA series in Hawaii.
(top) Super featherweight, 31 year-old Aaron “Gavilan” Garcia (13-3-2, 4 KOs) from Vista, CA will be there on Wednesday. As an amateur, Garcia was the National Golden Gloves Champion in 1999 and 2001, then U. S. Amateur Featherweight Champion in 2003. On Friday, Garcia is set to face 36 year-old journeyman Gerardo “El Torito” Zayas (20-23-2, 12 KOs) from Rosarito, B. C., Mexico who is shown below. Zayas’ last victory came on November 30, 2012, when he beat Jorge Sillas by an unanimous decision. Zayas might have a spy go to the Wednesday workout, but he won’t be there.

Muay Thai fighter and instructor plus gym owner Eddie Roa.
At the age of 5, Eddie Roa began boxing with his father who is a big boxing fan. Before moving to San Jose, CA, where he began Thai boxing as an amateur under Kru Rey Garcia, the 2001 ‘IKF’ Heavyweight State Champion and two-time National Champion, Eddie trained on and off with boxing coach Julio Leal trainer of World Champion El Maromero Paez from his home town of Mexicali, Mexico.
Roa’s Muay Thai style comes straight from Thailand where he trained on and off for almost a decade. Roa fought four times in Thailand – all wins – winning his first Pro fight by knockout in the first round. He’s fought in Las Vegas, Thailand (Bangkok and Pattaya), and China (Zhengzhou). After becoming the winner of the China vs Mexico 70kilo tournament, he was featured in two Thai documentaries based on foreign fighters fighting in Thailand.
These workouts should be interesting to watch. Especially when you have two gentlemen of their stature.
