Local fight card is the talk of the town
Once again Bobby D Presents, this time in association with Golden Boy promotions, Don Chargin and Jorge Marron Productions returns to the Four Points by Sheraton Hotel on Aero Drive in San Diego, Friday, June 11th to host another outstanding local fight card.
With three local undefeated boxers on the fightcard, Solo Boxeo Tecate, TV’s #1 rated boxing series, is preparing to televise the event nationally on Spanish language channel Telefutura. The doors open at 6:30 p.m. with the first bout on the undercard to start at 7:30 p.m.
The main event features Chris “San Diego Kid” Martin (17-0-2, 5 KO’s) defending his California State Bantamweight Title against Adolfo Landeros (20-13-1, 9 KO’s) of Hidalgo, Hidalgo, Mexico, now training in Mexico City. Landeros career appears to be in a downward spiral after losing seven of his last nine fights. In his last three bouts, he lost by TKO twice and was knocked out on February 5, 2010 by Guillermo Rigondeaux (5-0-0, 4 KO’s).
Also featured is lightweight Antonio Orozco (6-0-0, 5 KO’s) who trains with Carlos Barragan, Jr. at the National City Community Youth Athletic Center.
Orozco’s scheduled opponent is Mike Peralta (4-4) of Carson City, Nevada who hasn’t fought in over 19 months.
With Orozco helping Mercito Gesta (18-0-1, 8 KO’s) get ready for his bout last week in Florida and his intense sparring with Pavel Miranda (16-4-1, 8 KO’s) at the Azteca Gym, the toughest gym in Tijuana, Mr. Peralta is going to have his hands full trying to contain Orozco.
Rounding out this unblemished trifecta is the Cuban sensation Lester Gonzalez (10-0-0, 5 KO’s) who trains with Chris Getz and Lou Messina at the Black Tiger Gym across the street from Marine Corps Air Station Miramar. Gonzalez, a junior middleweight, is set to face 25 year-old Ibrahiem King (7-2-0, 2 KO’s) of West Palm Beach, Florida. King, who is a slick boxer and counters well, can punch. He lost his last fight to Willie Monroe Jr. (8-0) of Ithaca, New York back on April 10, 2010.
